1997
Martin Johnson's Lions beat South Africa in the Test opener 25-16 in Cape Town. The match was turned on its head when Matt Dawson memorably dummied four Springbok players before he scored in the corner.

Alan Tait scored another to make the game safe as the Lions headed to Durban for the second Test with a 1-0 lead.

2003
England finished their summer tour Down Under with a 25-14 win against Australia in Melbourne, their first-ever triumph against the Wallabies on Aussie soil.

Tries from Ben Cohen, Will Greenwood and Mike Tindall gave England a famous victory. The game finished with Josh Lewsey's memorable crunching tackle on Mat Rogers.

1930
The Lions opened their Test series in New Zealand with a 6-3 victory at Dunedin. The Lions tries came from Jack Morley and Jim Reeve.

2008
England's ill-fated tour of New Zealand ended with a 44-12 defeat in Christchurch. The All Blacks led 20-0 at half-time thanks to tries from Richard Kahui and Dan Carter. England bounced back with a try from scrum-half Danny Care but Ma'a Nonu, Sione Lauaki and Jimmy Cowan added further converted tries for the All Blacks, with Tom Varndell's late score no more than consolation for the tourists. The result completed a 2-0 series win for the All Blacks but the tour was over-shadowed by an alleged sex scandal involving England's Danny Care, Topsy Ojo, Mike Brown and David Strettle. Ojo and Brown were eventually fined for misconduct and Care and Strettle were found not guilty following an RFU probe. No official complaint was made against the players, who denied any wrongdoing.

1980
At the Sydney Cricket Ground Mark Ella made his Wallabies debut in a 13-9 win for Australia against New Zealand. The victory completed Australia's first hat trick of wins against the All Blacks since 1929. Australia's tries came from Mike Hawker and Michael Martin.

2008
England Saxons put in a fine second half showing against Scotland A to win the Churchill Cup final 36-19 in Chicago. Gloucester's talented fly-half Ryan Lamb narrowly edged a compelling duel with opposite number Gordon Ross, firing home four penalties and two conversions, while there were tries from Matt Banahan, Nick Abendanon, Jordan Crane and Ugo Monye. Ross kicked 14 points for the Scots, for whom Colin Gregor touched down.

2009
Ireland 'A' clinched the 2009 Churchill Cup with a thumping 49-22 victory over England Saxons in the tournament finale at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Colorado. Coach Declan Kidney's decision to rotate his squad paid off again as they recovered from a slow start to overpower their opponents with a confident six-try performance.

1980
Bill Beaumont's Lions gave one of the best displays of their tour of South Africa to beat Northern Transvaal 16-9 in Pretoria. Tries by Jeff Squire and Maurice Colclough, a conversion from Ollie Campbell and two Andy Irvine penalties saw the Lions home.

1975
Robert Paparemborde was among seven new caps as France fielded an inexperienced side and crashed to a 38-25 defeat by South Africa in a high-scoring Test in Bloemfontein.

2009
Scotland 'A' claimed the IRB Nations Cup title with a 22-12 victory over France 'A' in Bucharest. Richard Vernon scored the only try of the game nine minutes from the end to seal an absorbing final match of the tournament.
