Peter Hynes has boosted the Reds prior to next season's Super 15 tournament by putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

The Wallabies wing, employed mainly at fullback this season by coach Ewen McKenzie, was earlier in the year linked with a move overseas but has elected to stay in Queensland to try and help the franchise to the top of Super Rugby.

Hynes was on Thursday named in Robbie Deans' Australia squad for forthcoming meetings with Fiji and England.

"There's a lot of things to play for and there are a lot of things I want to achieve in the next couple of years," he said. "It was an easy decision to stay in Queensland. I want to be part of the Reds becoming a dominant force in Super Rugby and my goal is to win a Super 14 title.

"I've also got a personal goal of playing 100 caps for Queensland. That's very important to me. If that happens and I continue to play well, there's also a World Cup in New Zealand next year."

Meanwhile, one of Hynes' reported suitors, the Melbourne Rebels, have continued their recruitment drive with the signings of Chiefs lock Kevin O'Neill and former Wallaby prop Nic Henderson from the Western Force.
