Anthony Mundine will help Sonny Bill Williams hone his ball skills as well as preparing him for his next boxing encounter, the All Blacks centre has revealed.

Mundine, the rugby league star-turned-boxer, will form part of a unique pre-season training regime as Williams gets ready for the Super Rugby season with the Crusaders while also training for his fight with Scott Lewis on January 29.

Williams is due to report for Crusaders duty on February 1, but All Blacks involved in the European tour are expected to get themselves fit through their time off in January. Training for the fight with Mundine should get Williams in good physical shape, but Mundine's history with the ball is also set to come in handy.

'I'm going to spend a week with the old lady and my grandma and then shoot down to Christchurch to catch up with all the Crusaders people,'' Williams said in the Sydney Morning Herald. ''We are not back at training until February 1 and we have got to do our own pre-season, so this is pretty much me doing it myself. I've taken it into my own hands and I have been upfront with everyone.

''I have to sit down with the Crusaders when I go back and go through a game plan of what specifically they need me to work on. But obviously I have got 'Choc' there who knows how to throw the footy around and I have got a pretty good group around me who can chuck the ball around, so I can keep my skills up that way.

''Say, on Monday I do boxing, then on Tuesday I will go and do speed work and fitness in my rugby boots … Then I will go and do a bit of boxing that night. Then on Wednesday I might go for a swim… there are just heaps of things like that I can do.''
