Brumbies chief Andrew Fagan has confirmed that Jake White will be interviewed for the role of head coach at the struggling Super Rugby franchise.

The Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok boss has been linked with the job since Andy Friend was shown the door at the beginning of March, while stand-in coach Tony Rea is also set to be included on a shortlist of possible candidates for the full-time role.

So far this season the Brumbies have lost five of their six matches and face fellow strugglers the Hurricanes this weekend.

White has worked in a consultancy role with Aviva Premiership side London Irish this season and was also linked to the role of performance director at the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

Early press reports suggested that he had already been appointed by the Brumbies, a notion quickly dismissed by Fagan.

"I don't have enough time to waste on running a process for the sake of it," Fagan told AAP. "I can confirm he has applied and will be interviewed."
