Melbourne Rebels coach Rod Macqueen is confident that Danny Cipriani and Nick Phipps will opt to stay with the Super Rugby Franchise beyond the end of the season.

Former England fly-half Cipriani has been linked with a move back to Europe while reports in Australia suggest that Phipps, a Wallabies tourist in 2010, is being lined up as a scrum-half option by the Waratahs.

Both players have found form in the Rebels' recent outings and Macqueen believes that they will show loyalty to the fledgling side.

"This time of year, you get all those reports coming through," Macqueen told AAP. "We are talking to some players, obviously we've got to think about succession planning.

"I think you'll find Phipps and Cipriani are pretty secure, they're pretty happy with where they are and we're pretty happy obviously with the way they're playing at the moment."

The Rebels will welcome back playmaker James Hilgendorf, centre Cooper Vuna and lock Hoani MacDonald in the coming weeks, with a tough run of games against the Highlanders, Blues, Waratahs and Reds to come after last weekend's bye.

"We've had seven really tough rounds of rugby ... it gave us a chance to freshen up," vice captain Gareth Delve said. "The boys were a bit achy, a bit sore and we get a few back as well. The cavalry will come in now and lift the spirits around the club, lift a bit of energy."
