Springboks centre Jaque Fourie looks set to stay in South Africa despite overtures from Japan.

The 29-year-old is a man in demand after an impressive World Cup for the Boks and after Bryan Habana reportedly committed his future to the Western Province, Fourie looks set to follow in his wake and stay a Stormers player for the 2012 Super Rugby campaign. One option he may pursue is rather than playing in the 2012 Currie Cup, he may be granted a sabbatical to ply his trade in Japan, but that may harm his international prospects.

After seeing the likes of Francois Louw, CJ Van der Linde and Peter Grant - who will probably return to the Stormers for the Super Rugby campaign - depart to pastures new, Province managing director Rob Wagner was a pleased man when he spoke of Fourie's decision to commit to the Stormers.

"Jaques is staying," Wagner told the Cape Times. "I can't say what the length of the new contract is as we are still busy negotiating further details, but I can say that he is staying. All the other Boks have already signed contracts to play for us."
