The Lions look set to be without star fly-half Elton Jantjies for a month, according to reports.

The 21-year-old sat out the Lions' loss to the Sharks with a foot injury and while coach John Mitchell was optimistic that Jantjies would be back sooner rather than later, reports in The Beeld claim that a further prognosis has deemed his injury to be more serious than previously thought.

The Lions are without a host of players are the moment with Pat Cilliers sidelined with a stomach bug and props JC Janse van Rensburg and CJ van der Linde out for six and three weeks respectively.

And also on the sidelines are centre Alwyn Hollenbach, Wikus van Heerden, Bandise Maku, Dylan des Fountain, Michael Rhodes and Lionel Mapoe.
