Friday, May 31

Crusaders v New South Wales Waratahs, AMI Stadium, Christchurch

19:35 local, 07:35 GMT, 17:35 EST, 17:05 CST, 15:35 WST

Head to head: Played 19; Crusaders 15, Waratahs 4

In Christchurch: Played 10; Crusaders 9, Waratahs 1 (* first meeting between these sides at this venue)

Last clash: Round 10 2012 - Waratahs 33 - 37 Crusaders, Allianz Stadium, Sydney

Greg Growden says: The Waratahs have been banging on all week about commitment and how the Crusaders in Christchurch no longer intimidate them. Yeah, right. Forget it! I was there in 2002, when the Waratahs were shellacked 96-19. They'll never get over it.

Tip: Crusaders

Brumbies v Hurricanes, Canberra Stadium

19:40 local, 09:40 GMT, 19:40 EST, 19:10 CST, 17:40 WST

Head to head: Played 18; Brumbies 10, Hurricanes 8

In Canberra: Played 10; Brumbies 6, Hurricanes 4

Last clash: Round 13 2012 - Hurricanes 25 - 37 Brumbies, Westpac Stadium, Wellington

Greg Growden says: For good reason, the Brumbies are miffed that their halfback Nic White is not in the Wallabies squad. They should be. There have also been wise words from their coach, Jake White, about his fullback Jesse Mogg not being quite ready for the next step. So a lot of Brumbies have plenty to prove. The Hurricanes should suffer.

Tip: Brumbies

Saturday, June 1

Highlanders v Blues, Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

19:35 local, 07:35 GMT, 17:35 EST, 17:05 CST, 15:35 WST

Head to head: Played 21; Highlanders 7, Blues 14

In Dunedin: Played 10; Highlanders 5, Blues 5 (*Highlanders 1-0 at this venue)

Last clash: Round 8 2013 - Blues 29-18 Highlanders, Eden Park, Auckland

Greg Growden says: You can understand when a team is near the bottom of the ladder if they have a poor squad. But the Highlanders have their fair share of All Blacks, and, at the start of the season, they were even considered by some as tournament threats. Something certainly is crook in Dunedin. And it's not the beer.

Tip: Blues

Queensland Reds v Melbourne Rebels, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

19:40 local, 09:40 GMT, 19:40 EST, 19:10 CST, 17:40 WST

Head to head: Played 5; Reds 5, Rebels 0

In Brisbane: Played 2, Reds 2, Rebels 0

Last clash: Round 4 2013 - Rebels 13 - 23 Reds, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Greg Growden says: No doubt everyone is hoping James O'Connor will front up against Quade Cooper to see who exactly is the best No.10 going around in Australia. Doubts remain over O'Connor's fitness, and he could easily be a spectator. Nonetheless an anticipated Reds victory will put extra pressure on Robbie Deans to see sense and include Cooper in the Test squad.

Tip: Reds

Stormers v Southern Kings, Newlands Stadium, Cape Town

17:05 local, 15:05 GMT, 01:05 EST +1d, 00:35 CST +1d, 23:05 WST

Head to head: First meeting between the teams

Greg Growden says: The Stormers succeeded in destabilising the Reds last weekend, showing off yet again that they have one of the most reliable defences in the competition. The Kings will be a far easier proposition.

Tip: Stormers

Cheetahs v Bulls, Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein

18:10 local, 16:10 GMT, 02:10 EST +1d, 01:40 CST +1d, 00:10 WST +1d

Head to head: Played 10; Cheetahs 0, Bulls 10

In Bloemfontein: Played 5; Cheetahs 0, Bulls 5

Last clash: Round 9 2013 - Bulls 26-20 Cheetahs, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria

Greg Growden says: Okay: time for an upset. The Cheetahs have been the smokies of the tournament, forgotten by most, but they continue to perform. Blame it on Bloemfontein. It freaks out every visiting team.

Tip: Cheetahs.

Byes: Chiefs, Western Force, Sharks
