Western Force officials will meet James O'Connor this week, while they are also keen to continue contract talks with winger Nick Cummins.

The Force loom as O'Connor's only real option if he wants to keep playing in Australia after the utility back was dumped by Melbourne Rebels. O'Connor, 23, has become known more for his off-field behaviour than for his talent, but Force coach Michael Foley and chief executive Mark Sinderberry will meet him face-to-face this week.

Cummins, meanwhile, is reported to be exploring an option to continue his career in Japan, but the Force want to keep him on the books. Cummins, 25, has been hampered by an ongoing knee complaint for much of this season, but still he impressed enough to earn a Wallabies call-up for the 2-1 series loss to the British & Irish Lions. He failed to gain match time during the series, but subsequently made a stunning finish to the Super Rugby season with a star performance in the Force's 21-15 win over the Brumbies on Saturday.

Foley has also been impressed by Cummins' growth as a person off the field, and he expects the winger to make a decision on his future during the coming month.

The Force have signed Zack Holmes, Ian Prior and Luke Morahan for next season, but they still have five more spots to fill on their roster.
