Sale Sharks flanker Mark Easter has announced he will retire from playing at the end of the season to become a teacher.

Easter, the younger brother of Harlequins No. 8 Nick, joined Sale from Northampton in 2011 and has made 97 appearances for the Sharks.

The 33-year-old will depart following their final Aviva Premiership game of the season, against Newcastle on Saturday, to take up a teaching role at Wrekin College, Shropshire.

"I'm pretty lucky, I've been given an opportunity outside of rugby at a school, so I just felt it was the right time in my career," Easter said.

"I've really enjoyed my time here, and possibly could have played here a couple more years, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to retire on my own terms.

"I've really enjoyed playing this season, being involved in the side, so I feel it's a great way to end my career."
