Super Rugby play-off

  • July 26: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth
  • August 3: Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg

The Lions and the Southern Kings meet on Friday in the first of two Super Rugby play-off matches to determine which franchise will take the fifth South African spot in next year's campaign.

The Lions finished at the foot of the Super Rugby tree in 2012 and as a result, lost their place with the South African Rugby Union granting the Eastern Cape a franchise ahead of the 2013 campaign. The Kings have done themselves proud with a bold opening season in the premier tournament which saw them record three wins and a draw. However, they did finish at the foot of the tree meaning they now face a relegation/promotion decider against the Lions.

With the Lions waiting in the wings looking to retake their spot in the competition, the Kings now have two matches against the Johannesburg franchise to secure a second term in Super Rugby. And the ante has been upped on YouTube with the Kings producing their own motivational video in response to one which appeared last week in support of the Lions.

Which is your favourite? Let us know below.
