The Brumbies have added Fotu Auelua and Clyde Rathbone to their leadership group for the 2014 Super Rugby season, the pair joining David Pocock, Christian Leali'ifano and Stephen Moore under incumbent captain Ben Mowen.
Auelua has become one of the club's go-to men since arriving in 2012 after five years playing in France and Japan, and his presence on and off the field saw him elevated to the leadership group during the 2014 pre-season before his role was extended into the season proper.
"It's a great honour for me to be part of the leadership group at the Brumbies," said Auelua, who captained the ACT XV in 2013. "The club has put plenty of faith in me and my ability, and I am excited at the chance to repay some of that. It was only a few years ago that the Brumbies were scratching around for guys with experience, but that's changed over the last three years. We're fortunate enough to have plenty of leaders in the group and I'm happy to fit in as the coaches see fit."
Rathbone, likewise, has been elevated to the leadership group for the first time, having returned to Canberra in 2013 after three years away from the game. He adds plenty of experience to the group having claimed a title with the UC Brumbies back in 2004.
Captain Mowen and vice-captains Leali'ifano and Moore are each lining up for their third year in the group, while Pocock joined the leadership only last year.
