Benji Marshall is set to play his first game for the Blues since switching rugby codes last year, likely to see game time when the Auckland team face the Hurricanes in a Super Rugby pre-season trial at Masterton on Saturday.

"We'll probably play Benji in all three pre-season games in some capacity," Blues coach Sir John Kirwan said. "He wants to play 10. Most 10s can cover a couple of positions, but he'll be looking to start off at 10, see how he goes and then maybe give him a bit of time at fullback."

Marshall turned his back on Wests Tigers last year after 11 seasons with the National Rugby League club. He last played as a teenager on the Gold Coast.
