Liam Gill is ready to return after he was sidelined for five weeks with a hamstring injury, the Queensland Reds flanker having been given the all clear on Monday to bolster the struggling side for their must-win clash against the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.

"It's been five weeks too long in my eyes and I hate missing out on games and its tough watching," Gill said. "So I'm very excited to be back and its exciting playing at Eden Park and I understand how tough it is, so that makes it even more exciting.

"We understood going into the Hurricanes game how difficult they would be, but I mean the Blues is the same task; they play similarly and we're looking to really turn our season around. We understand the position we're in and we understand how to get out of it and that's where our heads are at."

After losing their third consecutive match and falling to the bottom of the Australian conference table with three wins from nine matches, Gill believes the side can turn around their season and start winning.

"We understand exactly where we are at and we know how to get out of it. We're a winning team and we've proven that over the last four years so we know how and what to do, it's just a matter of turning it around and doing it.

"All it takes is one win, one good win here and that will give us the winning momentum we need to get us firing into another round of home games. All it takes is that one moment in the 70th minute to knock off that game, that's all we need. We're not far off it, and we know we're not far off it and I think everyone can feel it; it's just frustrating not being able to get the win."

While the Reds will be bolstered by the return of Gill from injury, they are likely to be without Will Genia after the scrum-half rolled his right ankle against the Hurricanes.
