Chiefs prop Ben Tameifuna has signed with the defending champions for next year's Super Rugby season. The strong scrummager and crowd favourite said his decision to stay was simple.

"There's a great amount of support in all aspects of this environment, which is important for me to continue to develop both on and off the field."

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said 22-year old Tameifuna had made big improvements over the past season.

"We are really happy with Tama. He's a powerful man, a destructive tackler with an impressive skill set," he said. "Ben does an amazing job in our community. He is fantastic with people and we are rapt he's back on board next year."

Tameifuna made his Chiefs debut in March 2012 against the Blues and has played 48 games for the side.
