Horne citing adds to Waratahs' defeat

Lions 27-22 Waratahs (Australia only)

NSW Waratahs' woes have been compounded with winger Rob Horne facing a likely ban after being cited for a tip tackle.

Horne was sin-binned by referee Jaco Peyper for the incident in the defending champions' 27-22 loss to the Lions in Johannesburg early Sunday AEST. However, after reviewing video, the citing commissioner deemed it worthy of a red card and Horne now faces a foul play charge before SANZAR duty judicial officer Adam Casselden.

The citing comes just a few days after Waratahs hooker Tolu Latu and lock Will Skelton were suspended for their involvement in a tip tackle against the Crusaders in Sydney last weekend.

The Waratahs also had flanker Jacques Potgieter sin-binned against the Lions for a late tackle in which he failed to use his arms. That followed a couple of incidents in the Crusaders game when Skelton used his shoulder and no arms on opponents, although he escaped sanction for those.

If suspended, Horne will miss the Waratahs other South African tour match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein next weekend.
