Matt Giteau is free to take on the Reds this weekend after avoiding a suspension for criticising referee Steve Walsh.

The Brumbies playmaker was slapped with a A$5,000 fine by a SANZAR disciplinary panel for comments made in the wake of his side's defeat to the Waratahs at Stadium Australia last weekend.

The Brumbies believed that a try to wing Adam Ashley-Cooper was chalked off incorrectly and skipper Stephen Hoiles also became involved in a running debate with the Kiwi official. "I don't know if we will turn up," Giteau told AAP."What's the point? Like everyone who knows rugby, that was a try."

Walsh was in line to take charge of their meeting with the Reds this weekend but has since been swapped for his own benefit and that of the game.
