Piri Weepu could bid farewell to the Hurricanes' fans on Friday as they take on the Reds at Westpac Stadium, with speculation over the All Black scrum-half's future still rife.

Weepu, 26, has been linked with a move to the Top 14 but is keen to further his Test career prior to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

In recent weeks he has lost his starting place for the Hurricanes to Tyson Keats, but returns to the No.9 jersey for a game that will see Rodney So'oialo pick up his 100th Super Rugby cap and Tamati Ellison play his last home game before heading to Japan. Despite the rumour mill turning, Weepu has elected to keep his cards close to his chest.

"I don't know. It might be [my last home game], it might not be. I'll be going out there to try and enjoy myself and have a lot of fun with the boys and enjoy the occasion, especially for Rodney," he said. "Everyone's coming to the stage in their careers where they've got to make big decisions. A few of the boys have already made that decision so it's just wait and see how it goes, really."

Weepu played six Tests in 2009, all as back-up, and admitted that he had sat down with the All Black selectors in order to clear up his place in the international pecking order.

"We've sat down and had meetings and they've asked me how things have been going. I can't share too much information because you guys might leak it and I don't want it to get leaked just yet," he said."They've talked to me about how the game's changed and how attacking players like Will Genia and myself and every other No 9 can threaten the defensive line. I guess everyone's got that burning desire to wear the black jersey. That's a big goal but at the moment I've just got to take it week by week."
