Celtic league champions Munster have bolstered their ranks with the signing of Queensland Reds back Will Chambers on a short term contract.

The deal is subject to a work permit and a medical but Chambers will cover the void left by the likes of Keith Earls who is in New Zealand with Ireland on World Cup duty. Chambers previously plied his trade in rugby league for the Melbourne Storm but has spent the past two seasons with Super Rugby champions the Reds. He took his bow for the Queensland franchise against the Waratahs in February 2010 ending the campaign as joint top try-scorer.

And Munster boss Tony McGahan is looking forward to welcoming the Australian to Thomond Park saying: "We're delighted to be able to secure the services of a quality player whose experience gleaned at Super Rugby club level will stand us in good stead in the immediate future while our players are on World Cup duty and in the crucial period of the Heineken Cup Pool stages."

Munster travel to Glasgow on Friday evening for their second match of the RaboDirect PRO12 looking to make it two from two after their 20-12 win in the opening round against the Newport Gwent-Dragons.
