Waratahs No.8 Wycliff Palu has been cleared of stamping charges by a SANZAR judicial hearing. Palu was cited for an alleged stamp on Jeremy Thrush of the Hurricanes during their opening 26-22 Super 14 win over the Wellington side on Friday.

Wallaby Palu had the charge dismissed by SANZAR judicial officer Bruce Squire during a short hearing at the New Zealand Rugby Union offices in Wellington. Palu was cited by Citing Commissioner John Wootton following the game, but during the hearing fresh television evidence was available, showing that Palu had in fact stepped over Thrush. Palu was represented by Waratahs boss Chris Hickey and team manager Chris Webb.

The Waratahs fly home from New Zealand later on Sunday in order to begin preparations for their first home game of the season against the Chiefs on Friday.
