Western Force fullback Cameron Shepherd scored a hat-trick of tries to end the Brumbies' 100% record in this year's Super 14.

Wallaby fly-half Matt Giteau made a winning return to Canberra as he prepares to make the switch from the Force back to the Brumbies at the end of the season, inflicting on the Brumbies only their second home loss to another Australian side in Super 14 history.

Shepherd scored the Force's first after they had trailed 6-0, latching on to a break from centre Ryan Cross. The Brumbies edged ahead 9-8 at half-time, but Shepherd was on hand again just after the break to reinstate the away side's lead. The fullback took the scoring pass from Giteau after some tidy handling before No.8 Richard Brown scored the Force's third try in the 50th minute.

With the Force 20-9 up the Brumbies went route one, and forced a penalty try after several bulldozing rumbles from a scrum. With the score at 20-16 it was the Force who again pulled clear, Shepherd scoring his third try and securing the bonus point for the Perth franchise.
