Wurz rules out Formula One comeback
Alex Wurz will not make his F1 comeback in 2010, after he revealed that talks with new team US F1 had ended. Wurz was linked with a seat at the newly-formed American team after sporting director Peter Windsor confirmed they had approached the driver July.
However, Wurz revealed on Friday that a deal had not been reached and that he would remain with Peugeot's factory Le Mans series team for 2010.
"There were discussions with US F1, but now I draw a line under the matter," told motorline.cc. "My one hundred per cent priority is the Peugeot factory team - I'm going to contest the 24 hours of Le Mans and other [sports car] races."
Wurz, who made 69 grand prix starts, most recently for Williams in 2007, denied that his decision was as a result of rumours suggesting the team would not be prepared for the beginning of the season in March.
"It is a decision of the heart," he said. "I could earn more money in Formula One, and I am convinced that US F1 will succeed in bringing American technology and American thinking into Formula One."
