Two-time winner Tommy Robredo was forced to withdraw from his first-round match at the Swedish Open due to a thigh injury.
Robredo, the fifth seed, was losing 7-5 5-5 to world No. 87 Filippo Volandri when he opted to pull out of the match after one hour and 49 minutes of play.
Spain's Robredo had not played for two months due to injury before Wimbledon, where he lost in the first round to Yen-Hsun Lu.
Meanwhile, at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, there were wins for Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Sergiy Stakhovsky.
