Murray flying high ahead of US Open

Andy Murray believes he has had the "perfect preparation" for the US Open after beating world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to claim the Western & Southern Open title in Cincinnati.
Murray was always in control against an off-colour Djokovic, who eventually retired with a shoulder injury while trailing 6-4 3-0. It was only the Serb's second defeat of the season, and a second title of the year for Murray.
Djokovic's retirement may have taken the sheen off what would have been an impressive victory for Murray, but the Scot refused to let it take away from his own performance.
"It was good," Murray said. "I thought the standard towards the end of the first set was very good, a lot of long rallies. He started off a little bit slow, made quite a few mistakes early on but the way I ended it was the perfect preparation for the US Open."
The last time Murray won the title in Ohio back in 2008, it preceded his best US Open performance, where he fell in the final to Roger Federer. And Murray is confident he can produce another impressive performance at Flushing Meadows.
"This court is very similar to the one in New York and it's good to know I am playing well here in similar conditions and I hope I am going to have a good one."
Robin Soderling drops to sixth in the ATP Tour rankings, making way for David Ferrer. Meanwhile in the women's rankings, former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova moves up to fourth following her victory in Cincinnati.
