Zvonareva books final with Radwanska

Vera Zvonareva romped to victory against Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova to book her place in the final of the Pan Pacific Open.
Zvonareva, the fourth seed, needed a tiebreak to claim the first set - but from there everything went her own way as she went on to claim victory without dropping another game, ultimately winning 7-6(2) 6-0.
It had all began so differently. The first set looked to be going Kvitova's way as she raced into a 5-1 lead, but Zvonareva suddenly found her rhythm and soon after that the tide of the contest turned in her favour. After breaking her opponent for the third time in the set to restore parity, matters went to a tiebreak - with momentum continuing to stay with the Russian, as a botched volley from Kvitova soon handed her the stanza.
The second set continued in the same vein as the tiebreak, with Zvonareva moving out into a big lead against little resistance. And the match was concluded - perhaps fittingly - thanks to another Kvitova unforced error, as she buried a backhand into the net.
"I don't even remember that I was 5-1 down in the first set. I wasn't really thinking about it at all. I was trying to find my rhythm and I couldn't find it in the beginning," said Zvonareva.
"She was playing really well. But slowly I got into the match and started making the shots I usually make and was able to turn it around.
"I think I played consistent in the second set and Petra made a few mistakes. We had tough games but I was able to convert all my chances and that's why the scoreline looked like that."
Zvonareva will now face ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the final, after she needed three sets to eventually overcome third seed Victoria Azarenka.
Radwanska required over two and half hours to finally dispose of Azarenka, eventually claiming a 6-3 4-6 6-2 triumph.
After dropping the first set Azarenka fought back to even the match with a fine array of shots in the second set. But the final set saw both players suffer a drop in serving quality, with Radwanska better able to feast on that change to get the two breaks she needed to close out the match.
Radwanska and Zvonareva have already contested one final this year, with the former getting the upper hand at the Mercury Insurance Open.
