Injured Djokovic out of Shanghai Masters
Novak Djokovic has pulled out of next week's Shanghai Masters after failing to shake off a back injury.
Djokovic, who won three of this year's four grand slams, struggled during his epic win over Rafael Nadal in the US Open final and aggravated the problem in Serbia's Davis Cup tie with Argentina.
The world No. 1, who was unable to defend his China Open title, was hopeful a period of rehabilitation would remedy the problem but he has been advised to take more rest and will not be in action in Shanghai.
"I am sorry not to be playing in Shanghai, one of my favourite tournaments, but I have not recovered yet from my injury," Djokovic said.
"I did another check this week and the results are not good so I need to continue my rehabilitation," he added.
