Flavia Pennetta failed to reproduce the form that saw her stun world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki on Friday as she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska in the China Open semi-finals.

Pennetta was dangerous off either wing against Wozniacki, but she appeared to have fired all her bullets as Radwanska claimed a 6-2 6-4 victory. The 11th seed will now meet Andrea Petkovic in the final.

Radwanska had to rely on her baseline game to overcome Pennetta, with both serves readily penetrable. The match featured seven breaks in total, but Radwanska was always the superior player and claimed five of those seven to book her spot in Sunday's final.

Petkovic had to derail the career-best run of Monica Niculescu in the other semi-final, which she managed with some ease for a 6-2 6-0 victory. Niculescu had worked her way to the biggest semi-final of her career, but the qualifier froze in Beijing.

Petkovic, the ninth seed, converted seven of eight break points, conceding just nine points in the second set en route to victory.
