Linz qualifying joy for Brit Broady
Naomi Broady completed an impressive weekend on Sunday by winning her second qualifying round match against Aleksandra Wozniak at the Generali Ladies Linz.
World No. 212 Broady, who beat Arantxa Rus 24 hours earlier, this time overcame a player ranked 103 places higher than her in the WTA Tour rankings. Wozniak was the undoubted favourite, but Broady progressed 6-4 7-6(2).
There was a significant contrast between the two players when it came to the serving department on Sunday, with Broady able to deliver six aces while Wozniak delivered the same number of double-faults.
As a result Broady clinched four breaks throughout the match, taking the first set en route to a tiebreaker, which the Brit dominated to claim victory.
In the China Open final, Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Andrea Petkovic to secure her third title of the year. Radwanska won less points in the match than her rival, but she broke eight times to seven in a 7-5 0-6 6-4 victory.
