Superstitious Murray turns his back on Twitter followers

Andy Murray has warned his fans not to expect any communication from him on Twitter.
The world No. 4 had amassed a following of more than 620,000 followers on the social networking site, but has not posted on his page since September 11, the day after his US Open semi-final defeat to Rafael Nadal, when he posted a motivational quote from actress Julie Andrews, which said "perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th".
Since that date, Murray has gone on a unbeaten run of 13 matches, picking up titles in Thailand and Japan, and remains on course to defend his Shanghai Masters title after dispatching Australian Matthew Ebden in straight sets on Friday to reach the semi-finals.
Unbeaten since turning his back on Twitter, Murray admitted superstition had played a part in his decision not to tweet.
"I just stopped doing it and I'm not missing it to be honest, it was fun for a while but I just stopped and surprisingly I haven't lost a match since I stopped tweeting," Murray told Sky Sports. "Tennis players and all sportsmen are pretty superstitious, so I blame my US Open loss on tweeting!"
