Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic defended her Tournament of Champions crown in emphatic fashion with a 6-3 6-0 win over Anabel Medina Garrigues in Bali.

Ivanovic, who didn't win an International level title this season, but was handed a wildcard for the event as defending champion, celebrated her 24th birthday in style with victory in Indonesia.

Ivanovic burst out of the blocks, grabbing an early break en route to winning the opening set, before losing just seven points in a dominant second set display, wrapping up the match in a little over an hour.

"I felt like I didn't do much wrong. It was a great match for me," Ivanovic said. "Anabel and I practiced together all week, so it was nice we got a chance to play each other on the last day of the tournament.

"It's the best way to celebrate my birthday, in front of so many people. Actually it's the most people I've ever had at my birthday!"

Meanwhile, Nadia Petrova took third place honours without picking up a racket after Sabine Lisicki was force to pull out of their play-off with a back injury.
