Djokovic should heed Barcelona warning - Murray

Andy Murray has warned Novak Djokovic it will be near-impossible for him to repeat his successes of 2011 over the next 12 months, pointing out the fact not even Barcelona have dominated European football two years running.

Murray's point is based on the fact no football side has won back-to-back Champions League trophies, despite the widespread belief that Barcelona have been the best team on the planet - maybe the best ever witnessed - for the past three of four years.

Djokovic won three grand slam titles in 2011, only missing out on the French Open. The Serb won 10 titles in all, including a 41-match winning streak (in the calendar year).

Ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals, where victory would provide the perfect ending to Djokovic's year, Murray believes his rival should be bracing himself for a tough 2012.

"It's like Barcelona in football," Murray said. "It's the best team but to win back-to-back Champions Leagues, even though you're the best team, it's so tough, the margins are so small. A lot of things have to go your way."

Working against Djokovic will be his body, which has struggled to cope with the physical demands in the latter half of the year. A shoulder problem has hindered his recent appearances, but the world No. 1 insists he is 100 per cent fit ahead of the London finale, which starts on Sunday.

"I have been serving at 100% in the last two or three days," Djokovic said. "For me the shoulder is fine at this moment. I can say it is recovered and it is ready to compete.

"It has been the best year of my career and I'm definitely proud of what I've achieved so far. But it's still not over and I have a very important event to be a part of and I try to do my best for the next week. Everybody wants to finish the season in great style."
