Caroline Wozniacki will kick off her Australian Open preparations at the Sydney International.

Wozniacki, who finished the year as the world No. 1 for a second consecutive season, has confirmed she will join US Open champion Sam Stosur and French Open winner and defending champion Li Na at the Sydney Olympic Park.

It will be Wozniacki's fourth appearance in Sydney - she reached the quarter-finals on her first appearance in 2009, but lost her opening matches in in her last two showings.

"The Apia International Sydney is the ideal preparation for the first grand slam of the year," Wozniacki said. "It is a really beautiful city and the tournament has a really nice set up so I always enjoying going to Sydney every year."

Despite being the world's top ranked player Wozniacki is yet to win a grand slam, and the Dane will be hoping a good run in Sydney will put her in good stead for her first major title in Melbourne.
