Novak Djokovic's phenomenal year has become even more remarkable after the world No. 1 signed off for the year with a record prize money haul of $12,619,803 - bettering the amount earned by Rafael Nadal last year ($10.1 million) and Roger Federer in 2007.

Djokovic claimed three of the four grand slams in 2011, rising to the top of the rankings and winning a mighty 70 matches and losing just six throughout the season.

The 24-year-old, who will defend 10 titles next year - including a record five ATP World Tour Masters events - picked up an additional $1.6m in bonus prize money for his efforts and has climbed above eight-time grand slam champion Andre Agassi to No. 4 on the list of career prize money leaders, boasting $32.8m in earnings to the American's $31.1m.

Federer, who has racked up 16 grand slam triumphs, still heads the way in terms of total career prize money earnings ($67.4m) but Nadal is now in hot pursuit after the Spaniard surpassed Pete Sampras' haul of $43.2m.
