David Ferrer continued his dominance of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel on Saturday, winning the title for the third consecutive year.

The world No. 6 took one hour and nine minutes to conquer fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-1 6-2 to improve his record in 2012 to 18-1.

Ferrer was never really tested in a one-sided final, cruising to victory thanks to two breaks in each set. "I felt I was very solid and my game went really well," Ferrer said.

"As Fernando hits so hard, I knew I had to be solid and counter him and I think I did it very well, especially at the beginning. I also know Fernando didn't play his best tennis today but that's tennis. You have good days and sometimes bad days."

Verdasco added: "I want to apologise for having played so bad. I am extremely disappointed I wasn't able to have the fight I was expecting to have."

At the Delray Beach International, top seed John Isner was sent spinning out with a 7-5 7-6(4) defeat to Kevin Anderson. He will now play qualifier Marinko Matosevic in the final.
