I have some great tennis left in me - Clijsters

Kim Clijsters has poured scorn on rumours that she is set to quit tennis with immediate effect.

The Belgian reached the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on her return from an ankle injury, where she was beaten by fellow Belgian Yanina Wickmayer.

Speaking to Belgian TV following the defeat, Clijsters admitted the sport was "becoming too much for my body", prompting reports the former world No. 1 could call it a day.

But Clijsters, who is expected to hang up her racket for a second time following this summer's London 2012 Olympics, took to Twitter to deny reports she is set to retire.

"I don't know who started the rumours," she said. "I am not quitting. Not yet! I have some great tennis left in me! Just making that very clear."

Having won three grand slams on her return to the sport after a two-year absence, Clijsters has slipped to No. 37 in the world rankings following a series of injuries.

She is not scheduled to return to action until early May in Madrid, where she will begin her preparations for the French Open.
