Injured Baltacha out of Barcelona

Elena Baltacha's preparations for the clay court season hit a setback after she was forced to pull out of the Barcelona Ladies Open with a foot injury.

The British No. 1, who was scheduled to play Romania's Alexandra Cadantu in the first round, confirmed on Monday that she had decided to withdraw.

"The disappointing news is that I've had to pull out of the Barcelona Ladies Open with a foot injury," Baltacha wrote on her Facebook page. "Hopefully it's nothing too serious - I'll keep you posted."

Cadantu will now play a qualifier in the first round.
