Kaia Kanepi produced a typically powerful performance to send Roberta Vinci crashing out of the Estoril Open in Portugal.

The Estonian rediscovered the form that saw her win the Brisbane International earlier in the year as she claimed a 6-2 7-5 win on Friday.

Kanepi made real inroads on the Italian's second serve as she broke for a 3-1 lead before wrapping up the opening set in a little over half-an-hour.

Vinci recovered to grab an early break in the second set and looked set to force the match to a decider after forging a 5-2 lead, but Kanepi bounced back, winning five straight games to seal her place in Saturday's final.

"I didn't think too much about the score, I knew if I played my game and stuck to my tactics anything could happen," Kanepi said. "I'm happy with the way I am playing and hope to get more matches on clay. If I play well, I have got a chance of winning the title."

Kanepi's final opponent will be Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro, who was a 6-4 6-0 winner over Italian qualifier Karin Knapp. World No. 58 Suarez Navarro is bidding to win her first WTA title in Portugal.

At the Budapest Grand Prix, top seed Sara Errani will face Elena Vesnina in the final, after they beat Anna Tatishvili and Marina Erakovic respectively, both in straight sets.
