Juan Martin Del Potro feels he is heading back towards the peak of his powers after getting the better of Richard Gasquet to win the Estoril Open for the second year running.

The 2009 US Open champion has had a torrid time with a wrist injury that threatened his career at one stage, but the Argentinian is well on the road to recovery.

His win in Portugal sets him up for the French Open later in the month and he is now back up to No. 11 in the world.

"I am getting closer and closer to my best form," he said. "I have worked really hard at home and now I have another important tournament next week to improve further. If I play as well as I did today over the coming days, I will be happy."
