Nadal v Djokovic final put back to Monday
The rainy conditions in Rome on Sunday have pushed the Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic Internazionali BNL d'Italia clash back until Monday.
No play was possible in the men's final on Sunday due to persistent drizzle, which also affected the women's final between Maria Sharapova and Na Li. That match did at least reach a conclusion, with Sharapova triumphing in three sets.
There were on-court discussions between the Djokovic and Nadal camps and organisers following the conclusion of Sharapova v Li, before it was announced that further play would not be possible.
Nadal will leapfrog Roger Federer and become world No. 2 if he wins the tournament for a sixth time. Nadal is also currently tied with Federer for the most Masters 1000 titles, with 20 apiece.
Djokovic triumphed when he faced Nadal in the final of the Rome tournament last year.
