Injury strikes Tipsarevic conqueror Lu

Janko Tipsarevic was the latest big name to crash out of the AEGON Championships after a surprise defeat to Lu Yen-Hsun at Queen's.

The third seed was the highest ranked player left in the draw following shock early exits for defending champion Andy Murray and second seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, with four-time Andy Roddick also crashing out in the second round.

Tipsarevic lost the opening set on Thursday but was forced to return to the court on Friday to complete his match after rain forced the players off the court. The Serb looked set to produce a fightback after racing through the second set, but he could not find a breakthrough as the world No. 57 held firm to claim a surprise victory in the tiebreak.

Lu returned to the court later on Friday, only to retire hurt during his last-eight clash with Marin Cilic. Cilic, seeded sixth, was leading 6-4 2-0 when Lu was forced to pull out with a groin injury.

Tenth seed David Nalbandian, who needed three sets to get past Edouard Roger-Vasselin earlier on Friday, found enough in reserves to come from a set down to see off Xavier Malisse 4-6 7-6 (2) 6-4 on court one.

In the other quarter-finals, 2010 champion Sam Querrey beat Ivan Dodig 7-5 3-6 6-3, and Grigor Dimitrov reached his first ATP Tour semi-final by ousting ninth seed Kevin Anderson 4-6 6-4 6-3.
