Nalbandian will play at Wimbledon

David Nalbandian's misdemeanour at Queen's has not discouraged the Argentine ahead of Wimbledon, and he will compete at SW19.

Nalbandian received a €10,000 fine from the ATP, forfeited his £36,500 prize money and is also being investigated by the police for an alleged assault after he kicked an advertising hoarding into the leg of a line judge during the AEGON Championship final against Marin Cilic.

Nalbandian was also disqualified for the incident but despite the uproar caused by his behaviour has vowed to return to England next week to take part at Wimbledon.

Bernado Ballero, Nalbandian's representative, said: "I can confirm to you that David's thoughts are about playing at Wimbledon."

Confirmation of Nalbandian's fine came from the ATP on Monday evening, as did the revelation he was being investigated by the police.

Nalbandian, who apologised for his conduct, will hope the incident does not detract from his preparations for Wimbledon, a tournament he made the final in 10 years ago.
