Lendl not carried away by Murray mania

Ivan Lendl has insisted he will continue to adopt a poker face during Andy Murray's bid for Wimbledon glory.

Murray put his fans and coaching team through the wringer during the first week of Wimbledon, with rollercoaster encounters against Ivo Karlovic and Marcos Baghdatis raising the heart rate. And while the likes of his mother Judy and hitting partner Dani Vallverdu displayed a range of emotions, Lendl remained stony faced.

The former world No. 1 and eight-time grand slam champion has been brought in to help Murray edge over the line and win a major title. The early signs have been promising, but he will not allow himself to get carried away with the emotion.

Lendl has crafted his poker face while helping in the development of his daughters' golf games and he feels keeping calm is the best way to aid his charges - Murray included.

"I've had a lot of training for it with my girls playing golf (they are top-class college players in America), following them or caddying for them," Lendl said. "I've never showed any emotion because it can transfer to the players.

"It's served me well with my daughters and I don't see this as being any different.

"Yes, Murray's a man and they were just children and this is a higher level, but the principle to me is just the same."
