Andy Murray refused to let the weather thwart his Wimbledon chances as he roared into the quarter-finals with a straight-sets victory over Marin Cilic.

The British No. 1, who was forced to return on Tuesday to complete his fourth-round match after rain brought a premature end to play on Monday, wasted little time as he wrapped up a 7-5 6-2 6-3 victory on Court One.

Resuming a set and a break to the good, Murray rattled through his service game, but the pair managed just six points before rain forced them off the court again.

When they re-emerged from the locker room, the skies remained overcast with more showers forecast, and Murray was in no mood to hang around as he raced through his service game before breaking Cilic to wrap up the second set.

He was forced to fend off four break points early in the third set, but some big first serves - including his seventh ace of the match - helped him dig his way out of trouble, before a neat passing shot saw him grab the crucial break.

Although Cilic rallied to avoid going a double break down, it was only the weather that threatened to hold up the Scot as he streaked to victory in two hours and ten minutes.

Murray will now have a chance to avenge his French Open defeat to David Ferrer after the Spaniard defeated former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro in straight sets.
