Serena Williams will contest her seventh Wimbledon final - looking for her fifth win - after defeating Victoria Azarenka in straight sets on Thursday.

"I've been working so hard, I really wanted it. She was playing well and I got a little tight in the second set. I was looking too far in the future. I was so close, but I can't do that. I was happy to get through that second set tie-break."

Williams will now face world No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska, who defeated her good friend Angelique Kerber to reach the final - her first such appearance in a grand slam appearance. A 6-3 6-4 triumph was just reward for her superiority in their match.

"This is what I was dreaming of since I was a kid. It's everyone's dream to play tennis in a grand slam final," she said. "We are really good friends, of course, but on court we're opponents and you're trying everything to make the final.

"We both were a bit nervous at the beginning, of course. You really want to try your best but sometimes you want it too much and your hands are shaking about, but after that I concentrated on every point.

"There is one match to go. I'm really going to try my best."

Angelique Kerber was disappointed to lose but conceded that Radwanska had played better on the day.

"She played very well today. I gave my best, but she was better. I was maybe one or two steps slower. I think that made the difference. My plan was to be aggressive, but she moved very well and didn't make many mistakes, so it was really tough."

"Actually it was a great tournament for me. I'm in the semis here in Wimbledon. Sure, I'm a little bit disappointed, but it's okay."
