Andy Murray will not be distracted by James Corden, with his sole focus over the next week to break his grand slam duck at the US Open.

The bright lights of New York can prove a distraction for many and Murray's friend Corden is also performing in the Big Apple. Murray has spent a lot of time in Corden's company, but any phone calls or text messages will be ignored as he bids to win the US Open.

"All I'm interested in is winning this tournament," Murray said. "I haven't hooked up with James but I've been out to dinner with him many times and he has come along to matches.

"This is the last major of the year so we have to make sure we leave everything on the court and not get distracted. It can be a long couple of weeks, especially if there are rain delays.

"Away from the courts you have to be as relaxed as possible so you're 100 per cent ready."

Murray became the first man into the third round when beating Ivan Dodig and he is delighted the schedule means his major rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, are effectively playing catch up.

"It's never happened to me in a grand slam that I've had the two-day break," Murray said. "I have to see it as an advantage after what I've been through at some US Opens.

"I had a lot of matches to play in a short space of time so I'd much rather be in this position.

"It's nice because I have had some tough schedules here. I don't think it's got anything to do with being Olympic champion. It's more that they want the games to be done and what sections of the draw they can get played. It has worked out well."
