Murray not daunted by Djokovic test

Andy Murray is determined to use his grand slam final experience to his advantage when he bids for US Open glory against Novak Djokovic.

Murray has four grand slam final defeats to his name, including a US Open loss to Roger Federer in 2008. That defeat to Federer was his first appearance in a major final and he has admitted it was a bit of a blur as he was blown away by the Swiss master.

"It just felt like it came around so quickly," Murray said of his loss to Federer in 2008. "It was the first time I had been in the semis and final [of a grand slam tournament] and it just seemed to go in the blink of an eye."

The British No. 1 has been beaten in the finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon, with the most recent of which being at the All England Club this year. He pushed Federer hard, taking the first set before falling in four sets.

He bounced back from his Wimbledon loss to take Olympic gold, beating Federer in the final, and he has shown real steel to battle his way to the final of the US Open.

Murray heads into Monday's final as the underdog, with Djokovic having been in scintillating form in the past fortnight. He has dropped just one set, which came in his semi-final win over David Ferrer, but Murray is not fazed by taking on the world No. 2 and is ready to break his grand slam duck.

"This time, I'm going to have a day to practice and rest and think about it," he said. "I am sure I will deal with it all much better this time, I've got four more years of experience and quite a lot of that experience has come this year, so that helps. I will give it everything, leave it all out there."

Murray was beaten by Djokovic in this year's Australian Open semi-finals, but has a big win over the Serb to his name at the Olympics and is looking to use that to his advantage.

"I handled a big match against him well in Australia this year," Murray said. "It was a great match. I think both of us played very well. It came down to a couple of points. I know how much the Olympics meant to all of the players, and winning against him in the Olympic semi-final was a big win for me. I know how tough it is to beat the top, top players in big matches.

"I have had some tough losses against him but also had some big highs against him as well.

"Obviously it will be an unbelievably tough match. He moves very well on the hard courts. He's a top, top player, one of the best players that's played. The year he had last year is incredible."
