Federer at ease in face of death threat

Roger Federer seemed unfazed by the death threat that was issued by speaking of his delight that he had arrived to compete in the Shanghai Masters.

The build-up to the event was overshadowed when news broke that a death threat had been made against Federer.

The threat, posted last month on a Federer fan site, vowed to assassinate the 17-time grand slam champion when he appears at the Masters event.

"On October 6, I plan to assassinate Federer for the purpose of tennis extermination," the user 'Blue Cat Polytheism Founder 07' said, having also posted a gruesome image of a decapitated Federer.

Security was tight as Federer arrived in Shanghai, but he appeared relaxed after taking part in the draw ceremony.

"I am very happy to be back in Shanghai," Federer told the ATP's website. "I have a lot of fans here.

"I have not been here for two years because so many things in my life have changed, like having a family. I decided five days ago that I was ready to play here and I discussed it with my wife [Mirka], because it's important to have a happy wife.

"I am very happy to be back here, where I have had a lot of success in the past."
