Caroline Wozniacki got the better of Sam Stosur in a drawn-out battle in Moscow for the Kremlin Cup trophy.

Wozniacki triumphed 6-2 4-6 7-5 in two hours and 14 minutes against the top seed to win her second WTA title of the year and 20th overall.

Former world No. 1 Wozniacki, now ranked 22nd, has begun to repair her reputation across recent weeks, and with this triumph can boast two titles in as many months.

She looked to be storming towards a routine success when she pocketed the first set and then snatched a break in the second - only for Stosur to come storming back.

Wozniacki then broke in the 12th game of the third set - just when it seemed a tie-break was inevitable - to get her hands on the trophy.

Meanwhile, Venus Williams ended a two-and-a-half year title drought as she defeated Monica Niculsecu in the Luxembourg Open final. The 32-year-old American claimed the 44th title of her career with a 6-2 6-3 victory over the Romanian.
