Tomas Berdych took a step closer to qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals in London with victory at the Stockholm Open.

In the first Stockholm final featuring the top two seeds since Boris Becker beat Stefan Edberg in 1991, Berdych claimed a second win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in as many weeks with a 4-6 6-4 6-4 victory.

Tsonga, who was bidding to avenge his quarter-final defeat to the Czech at last week's Shanghai Masters, took first blood with a single break which was enough to see him win the opening set.

The Frenchman looked to be on course for a comfortable victory when he took a 4-2 lead in the second, but Berdych rallied, winning four games on the bounce to level the match.

Berdych was forced to fend off three break points in the opening game of the deciding set, but neither Tsonga nor Berdych was able to find a way through until the final game.

Serving to stay in the contest, Tsonga saved two match points, but was helpless to stave off defeat when Berdych converted the third to secure victory after two hours and 28 minutes.

At the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, top seed Juan Martin Del Potro claimed the 12th title of his career after a straight sets win over Grega Zemlja.

Del Potro, also bidding to seal his place at the year-end championships at the O2 Arena next month, recovered from 2-4 down in the opening set to claim a 7-5 6-3 victory.

Meanwhile in Moscow, Andreas Seppi battled past Thomaz Bellucci 3-6 7-6(3) 6-3 to win the Kremlin Cup trophy.
