Roger Federer continues to march towards a sixth Swiss Indoors title after crushing Benoit Paire in Basel.

World No. 1 Federer needed a mere 54 minutes to win the quarter-final clash with a real flourish, 6-2 6-2. Federer has now won 32 of his last 33 matches at the event, with the only defeat against Novak Djokovic in 2009.

Federer's next opponent is wildcard entrant Paul-Henri Mathieu, who beat Grigor Dimitrov 7-6(2) 7-6(4).

Juan Martin Del Potro celebrated his qualification for the ATP World Tour Finals - sealed by Rafael Nadal's withdrawal from the London event on Thursday - by dismissing Kevin Anderson 3-6 7-6(3) 6-2 in two hours and 22 minutes.

He will now play third seed Richard Gasquet, conquerer of Mikhail Youzhny 6-2 7-6(5).

At the Valencia Open, top seed David Ferrer marched on by beating fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 6-3 7-5 in the quarter-finals. He will play the winner of the match between Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig.

The other semi will be contested by Jurgen Melzer and Alexandr Dolgopolov.
